EUDR 2025 Update: A New Supply Chain Actor Emerges

The proposed October 30th, 2025 update redefines responsibilities across the supply chain and introduces new obligations for companies that were previously not considered primary regulatory actors regarding traceability, supplier oversight and due diligence.

EU processors, traders, and retailers now face direct EUDR obligations.

Supporting every stage of EUDR compliance

We support our clients at every stage — from those starting out, to those optimizing their systems.

You know that the EUDR applies to your operations, but you lack a structured approach. We design and implement your compliance system from scratch — including risk assessment, supplier and plot mapping, data collection, traceability frameworks, and due diligence workflows helping you meet EU expectations and maintain access to the European market.

Your implementation is underway, but gaps remain — limited supplier engagement, inconsistent data, or inefficient processes. We assess and reinforce your current system, improving traceability, supplier responsiveness, and the robustness of your due diligence framework.

Technology that turns EUDR complexity into a manageable process

EUDR requires managing large volumes of supplier data, documentation, and evidence. Our digital tools help transform manual processes into structured, audit-ready systems.

Modular EUDR services tailored to your needs.

EUDR Is Already Changing How Supply Chains Operate

The question is no longer whether you should prepare — but how much risk you are taking by waiting.

European companies are already requesting traceability, geolocation, and due diligence information from suppliers before full regulatory enforcement begins.

    ✔ Fragmented supplier data
    ✔ Manual processes
    ✔ Incomplete traceability
    ✔ Disconnected documentation
✔ Limited visibility across supply chains

    ✔ Shipment delays
    ✔ Blocked products at customs
    ✔ Loss of customers
    ✔ Operational disruption
    ✔ Regulatory penalties
    ✔ Reputational damage

Companies that begin preparing now will gain advantages in

    • Market access

    • Operational continuity

    • Customer trust

    • Audit readiness

    • Supplier engagement

The 6 Pillars of EUDR Compliance

EUDR compliance requires building a system capable of demonstrating traceability, assessing risk, and maintaining verifiable evidence across the supply chain.

You must identify the exact origin of products and connect operations with verifiable production data.

You must collect and consolidate all relevant EUDR data across the supply chain, including product scope, supplier information, geolocation data, traceability records, and supporting documentation, to create a reliable foundation for due diligence and compliance

You need to evaluate deforestation risk, legality risk, and country or supplier exposure.

Where non-negligible risk exists, corrective actions and additional verification measures must be implemented.

Before placing products on the EU market, companies must submit a formal declaration confirming compliance.

All compliance information must remain organized, accessible, and audit-ready.

    FAQ´s about EUDR

The EU Deforestation Regulation sets a clear condition for market access: certain commodities and derived products can only enter or leave the EU market if they haven’t contributed to deforestation or forest degradation since 31 December 2020 and if they were produced legally under the laws of the country of origin. EUDR compliance applies whether your company is based in the EU or outside it, and whether you’re the one importing the product or selling it further down the chain.

EUDR covers seven commodity groups and their derived products: cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy, rubber, and wood (including charcoal, printed paper, and certain paper-based products). Coverage is determined by specific CN codes listed in Annex I of the Regulation. If your products fall under these codes and contain one or more of these commodities, EUDR obligations apply regardless of where your company is based.

A due diligence statement (DDS) is the formal declaration operators must submit through the EU Information System before placing products on the EU market or exporting them. It confirms the product is deforestation-free, legally produced, and backed by verifiable evidence. Each DDS receives a unique reference number that travels with the product through the supply chain and must be retained for at least five years for audit purposes.

It means identifying the exact geographical location where commodities were produced.

EUDR enters into full application on 30 December 2026 for large and medium-sized companies and traders. Micro and small enterprises acting as operators have until 30 June 2027 through this extension does not apply to downstream operators or traders of any size. In practice, EUDR implementation typically requires between 6 and 18 months depending on supply chain complexity. EU buyers are already requesting traceability and geolocation data from suppliers before enforcement begins.

Companies may face blocked shipments, financial penalties, loss of market access, and reputational damage.

A new regulatory category introduced in the 2025 update for companies processing or commercializing EUDR products already placed on the EU market.

Now. Many EU companies are already requesting EUDR-related data from suppliers, and implementation timelines can be significant depending on supply chain complexity.

This depends on supply chain complexity, supplier maturity, and the availability of traceability and documentation systems.

Not necessarily, but digital tools significantly improve traceability, documentation management, and scalability.
