Producers of CBAM goods play a crucial role in ensuring compliance across the supply chain.​ It is the producer responsibility to:

By aligning with CBAM requirements, producers can not only maintain access to the EU market but also gain a competitive edge as global industries shift toward lower-carbon production.

Producers need to calculate and disclose the embedded emissions (direct and, in some cases, indirect) generated during the production of goods such as cement, steel, aluminum, fertilizers, electricity, and hydrogen. The carbon footprint of the products needs to be calculated according to the CBAM rules.

Producers are expected to collaborate with their EU-based importers by sharing emissions data, certifications, and relevant documentation. This ensures the importers can meet their reporting and compliance obligations under CBAM.​

As CBAM expands to cover additional sectors and indirect emissions, producers must stay updated on evolving regulations and adapt their operations to maintain market access to the EU.
