An exciting opportunity has arisen at Peterson Solutions at Colombo, Sri Lanka for EXECUTIVE – SUSTAINABILITY SERVICES.

We are seeking a technically strong and driven Executive – Sustainability Services to join our expanding sustainability practice and support the delivery of high-impact environmental and social projects. This role involves leading technical sustainability assessments, developing practical mitigation and improvement strategies, and guiding clients toward enhanced environmental performance and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in system certifications (such as ISO standards), GHG accounting and reporting, sustainability reporting frameworks, and environmental footprint assessments. Exposure to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools, carbon project development, and sustainability audits will be a strong advantage. In addition to technical delivery, the role requires close collaboration with the commercial team to identify business opportunities and effectively communicate the value of sustainable solutions to clients.

This position is ideal for a sustainability professional with 1–3 years of relevant experience who can bridge technical expertise with strategic thinking, manage projects end-to-end, and contribute innovative ideas to strengthen our sustainability offerings.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: You will lead the technical aspects of our sustainability projects, conducting in-depth environmental and social assessments, developing sustainability strategies, and addressing our clients’ needs with mitigation plans.
  • Expertise in conducting comprehensive environmental and social impact assessments, including Carbon Footprint Analysis, Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), and Sustainability Audits, Water footprint assessments, Carbon project developments.
  • Conducting training programs on the above subject areas.
  • Commercial Engagement: Beyond your technical role, you will collaborate closely with our commercial team to identify and pursue business opportunities that align with our sustainability goals or through your contacts in the industry. Your ability to communicate the value of sustainable practices will be important in attracting and retaining clients.
  • Project Management: You will manage sustainability projects from start to finish, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. Your leadership will be key in delivering successful outcomes for our clients.
  • Innovation & Strategy: You will be encouraged to bring innovative ideas to the table, helping us to stay ahead of industry trends and continually improve our sustainability offerings.

Requirements

  • Graduate in Forestry, Environment Management, Eco-business management, Agriculture, Chemistry or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in the field of system certification (ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 9001), GHG validation and verification, GHG accounting & reporting or sustainability reporting, HIGG FEM, HIGG FDM.
  • Hands-on experience with life cycle assessment tools (SimaPro, Open LCA, Umberto) and statistical tools (SPSS,R, Minitab), SBTi is an added advantage
  • A strong technical background in sustainability, with experience in environmental and social assessments, regulatory compliance, and sustainable supply chain management.
  • The ability to bridge technical expertise with commercial strategy, driving business growth through sustainable practices.
  • Excellent communication (in English and Sinhala) and project management skills, with a proven ability to lead and deliver complex projects.
  • A passion for sustainability and a commitment to making a positive impact on the environment and society.
