Program Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Peterson Solutions at Navi Mumbai, India for PROGRAM MANAGER.

As a Program Manager for Sustainable Sourcing and Sustainability Services you will be responsible for overall program strategy, ensuring alignment between individual projects and organizational objectives. Ideal candidate would manage the program as a whole, perform coordinating activities, manage resources, and mitigate risks. It is a critical role in driving sustainability, monitoring and evaluation of the program, carbon management, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, while also focusing on social development at the grassroots level.

The role involves working closely with stakeholders, managing partnerships, and clients to implement sustainable farming practices, improve livelihoods, and promote social responsibility. Your expertise will contribute to the successful execution of sustainability programs aimed at environmental protection and improving the social and economic conditions of rural communities.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Develop program strategies, align projects with organizational objectives, and monitor program performance
• Ensure effective communication, collaboration and coordination between project teams and stakeholders
• Allocate and manage resources across multiple projects within the program
• Identify and mitigate potential risks to ensure the successful completion of the program
• Organize and engage stakeholders in both rural and urban areas, promoting sustainable practices and fostering collaboration between farmers, clients, and local communities
• Build, strengthen, and optimize relationships with farmers, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure the successful adoption of sustainable agricultural practices
• Manage changes within the program, ensuring they are implemented effectively and efficiently
• Identify opportunities for improvement within the program and implement changes to enhance performance

• Social Development:
  1. Community Engagement and Empowerment: Facilitate community-driven development initiatives aimed at enhancing social equity, improving farmers’ livelihoods, and ensuring the inclusion of marginalized groups within the agricultural value chain.Organize community meetings and dialogues to understand local needs, raise awareness, and foster collaboration on social development projects, focusing on poverty alleviation and community well-being.
  2. Social Impact Assessment: Conduct assessments to evaluate the social impact of sustainability projects and farming practices on rural communities, ensuring that these initiatives are improving social conditions and providing economic opportunities.
  3. Capacity Building for Social Development: Provide training and capacity-building initiatives that not only focus on agricultural practices but also aim at empowering communities to improve their quality of life (e.g., financial literacy, gender equality, health, and education).
  4. Gender Equality and Social Inclusion: Promote gender equality and inclusivity in farming communities by ensuring that women and other marginalized groups have access to training, resources, and opportunities for economic empowerment.

• Carbon & ESG Focus (Additional Responsibilities):
  1. Carbon Management & Emissions Reduction: Work closely with sustainability teams to implement carbon emissions reduction strategies at the farm level and across broader operations, ensuring that all activities contribute to the organization’s carbon neutrality goals. Monitor and assess farm-level carbon footprints, providing recommendations for carbon reduction actions.
  2. ESG Strategy and Reporting: Oversee the execution of ESG strategies at the farm level, aligning them with corporate goals and sustainability standards. Prepare, finalize, and submit comprehensive ESG and sustainability reports to senior leadership and external stakeholders in a timely manner.
  3. Sustainability & Climate Change: Integrate ESG considerations and sustainable practices into farm-level operations, promoting responsible sourcing, waste reduction, and resource conservation. Educate and guide farmers on sustainable agricultural practices and their role in addressing climate change.

Requirements

• Graduate in Agriculture, Social work or Environmental Science or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in agriculture, environment or a related industry
• MBA in Marketing and experience of BD in for agriculture/social sector would be preferred
• Experience with business development and marketing skills is preferred
• Experience with monitoring and evaluation tools and techniques, as well as the ability to conduct surveys and assessments independently
• Knowledge of sustainability services, ESG, and livelihood studies will be considered an added advantage
• Experience in social development initiatives, including community engagement and gender equality in rural settings
• Experience with sustainable farming practices, carbon management, social development, and ESG reporting would be advantageous
• Experience with adult learning and capacity building in agricultural settings would be preferred
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in working with farmers and stakeholders at the field level
• at field /ground level
• Good command of English, Hindi: in speech and in writing
• Excellent report writing, presentation skills
• Resourceful, fast learner with strong interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with MS Office
• Willingness to travel extensively (upto 15-20 days per month) in the regions across PAN India to conduct field activities and training sessions
